Questions about quartzite

How is quartzite different from marble and granite?

Hardness. Quartzite stays at 7 on the Mohs scale and marble at 3: a knife scratches marble, not quartzite. In the kitchen it matters just as much: lemon and wine strip the shine off marble and leave quartzite as it is. Granite is hard too, with grainier, less flowing veins.

Does quartzite work for a kitchen?

Yes, with room to spare: a knife edge does not mark it and neither does kitchen heat, though pots straight off the fire call for a trivet. Order your countertop in 3 cm and choose polished or lappato for the shine you want. Before you buy, we confirm the slab is genuine quartzite: some slabs sold as quartzite are dolomitic marbles that lemon does mark. Like every natural stone, it is sealed when first installed.

How much does a square meter of quartzite cost?

Five things move the price: which stone it is, the grade the slab comes out at, thickness, finish and shipping to your country. There is no published price because every slab and destination changes the math. Send us your measurements and the stone you like on WhatsApp: the quote arrives with shipping included. The price guide breaks down each factor; shipping explains how the stone reaches you.
