Blue Roma quartzite

Quartzite · Brazil

In the Blue Roma photo, rust red and orange veins branch out over a light grayish blue background. As a quartzite, it resists acids and heat far better than a marble. It serves a countertop just as well as a dining table.

What Blue Roma Quartzite Looks Like

Rust red and orange run in fine branches over a light grayish blue background. The contrast is high: the veins are sparse, and still every branch stands out strongly against the light background. The slab adds faint gray concentric rings, soft circular patterns that accompany the warm branches. The photo shows the whole surface polished and glossy. On this slab the pattern changes from one zone to another with moderate variation.

A drop of lemon on an offcut tests whether it is true quartzite: if the stone reacts, it carries some calcite or dolomite.

Finishes for Blue Roma

The photo shows a glossy polish; honed and leathered keep the reddish branches and change the gloss and the feel.

  • Polished

It is the one in the photo: high gloss over the light background, with the reddish branches clearly drawn. Wet, on a floor, it is slippery.

  • Honed

The gloss drops and the feel turns matte: the pattern stays whole and a wet floor is less slippery than with the polish.

  • Leathered

It lowers the gloss and leaves a texture you can feel: the branches stay, the reflection goes.

Questions about Blue Roma Quartzite

What is the difference between Blue Roma and Ijene Blue?

They are two blue quartzites and both carry warm veins. In its photo, Ijene Blue is a slate blue crossed by fine ochre veins. Blue Roma, in its own, has a light grayish blue background with reddish branches and soft concentric rings. Choose by the pattern: Ijene Blue draws fine lines, and Blue Roma opens branches and adds rings.

Does Blue Roma work for a kitchen countertop?

Yes. As a quartzite, it resists kitchen acids and the heat of pots far better than a marble. A knife leaves no mark on the stone. Still, cut with a board in between: what you protect is the knife's edge.

Does Blue Roma quartzite need a sealer?

Not every quartzite behaves the same with porosity: some absorb very little and others ask for sealer. Place water on an offcut: if that zone of the stone darkens, sealing is a good idea. For daily cleaning, water and neutral soap are enough.

Is the slab in the photo a real Blue Roma?

Real. Both shots show an authentic Blue Roma slab with its polished finish: the full shot and the close-up. Every slab brings its own pattern. Before you buy, we send you photos of the slabs available for your order.
