Backlit onyx: where and how it is installed
A thin onyx slab lets through far more light than a marble. With light behind it, the pattern shows in full and the wall lights the room.
- Where it shines
Walls, bars and bathroom backsplashes: the places where light gives the full effect and no one sets weight on the slab.
- How it is installed
The slab mounts on a structure with the light behind it, spaced away from the source so the light spreads evenly across the whole surface.
- Color and thickness
Color sets the result: honey onyx lets out a warm light. Thickness decides how much light passes through, so you choose it along with the slab.
- Before you decide
Ask to see the slab lit up: each one carries a different pattern, and under light you see it in full. We quote it with shipping to your country.

Questions about onyx
Is onyx a marble?
People search it as onyx marble, but it is not. It is a stone that forms in layers inside caves and springs and keeps its pattern as rings. It polishes and shines like a marble, and lemon or vinegar etch it too. The real difference is light: a thin onyx slab lets through far more light than a marble.
Does onyx work for floors and kitchens?
You can, but with judgment. It scratches and stains easily, so as a floor it only works in low-traffic areas. In a kitchen it goes in as a detail or a front, not as a working countertop: acid and knives mark it. For hard-use surfaces, quartzite holds up far better.
How much does an onyx cost?
Color moves the price, along with thickness, finish, backlighting and shipping to your country. Every slab carries a different pattern, so each one is quoted on its own. Send the measurements on WhatsApp and we give you the price with shipping included. In the price guide we explain what moves the price of a slab.
How does onyx reach my country?
We ship to any country with the origin documents and, when applicable and available, CE certification. On the shipping page we explain how it reaches each region.
Are the room photos real?
Every slab in the catalog is a real photo. The bar, the bathroom wall and the vanity are visualizations created from those onyx slabs, to show you how the stone changes with light behind it. Before you order, we send you photos and video of the available slabs, lit as well.
