What Silk Georgette quartzite looks like
The lines crossing the slab are fine, horizontal and parallel to one another, in beige and light gray on a warm white background. They form a dense, regular banding that recalls wood grain, with low contrast: no line cuts in sharply. On this slab the striping keeps the same rhythm from end to end, with no loose or crowded stretches. The polish in the photo gives the warm white its shine.

Silk Georgette quartzite finishes
The slab in the photo comes polished; honed and leathered keep the same striping with less shine and a different feel.
-
Polished
The one in the photo: high gloss over the warm white and its striping.
-
Honed
A matte, smooth surface: the shine drops and where there is water, in the shower or on the floor, it is less slippery.
-
Leathered
A soft texture under the hand and a muted shine, halfway between polished and matte.

Questions about Silk Georgette quartzite
How do I tell Silk Georgette apart from White Macaubas quartzite?
Both carry fine, parallel horizontal lines. That is where the resemblance ends: in its photo, White Macaubas quartzite reads bluish white with dark lines; Silk Georgette stays a warm white, with beige and light gray striping and less contrast. If you want a cool white, ask for Macaubas; if you lean warm, this is it.
Does Silk Georgette quartzite work for a kitchen countertop?
Yes. The hardness of quartzite shows in the kitchen: hot pots and the acids in lemon or vinegar affect it far less than a marble. A knife does not mark it; cut on a board, for the knife's edge, not the stone's. Keep the visual side in mind: a background this light betrays coffee, wine or tomato, so the sealer test matters.
Does Silk Georgette quartzite need sealer?
It depends on the slab: some quartzites absorb very little and others call for sealer. Test it with a drop of water on the surface; if the stone darkens where the drop lands, it is worth sealing. For cleaning, water and neutral soap handle the daily routine.
Is the photo a real slab?
Real: the photo shows a Silk Georgette slab as it is, with its full horizontal striping. That striping does not repeat on another slab, so it pays to choose yours from photos. Before you buy, we send you photos of the slabs available for your order.
