What Sky Pearl quartzite looks like
Greige, beige and a taupe gray share the background of the slab in the photo. Across that background run dark gray bands, parallel and dense, on the diagonal: it is the banding that orders the surface. The contrast of the banding against the background sits in the middle. On this slab the pattern holds no surprises: the bands keep their parallel lines and their density.

If you are still unsure whether a slab is a true quartzite, try a drop of lemon on an offcut: if it reacts, the stone carries calcite or dolomite.
Sky Pearl quartzite finishes
In the photo the stone is polished. Honed and leathered lower that shine and change the feel.
-
Polished
The one in the photo, with the greige and the bands under a high gloss. It suits kitchens and tables.
-
Honed
It removes the mirror gloss and leaves a soft matte: useful in showers, on floors and in any area that gets wet.
-
Leathered
The hand notices a soft relief and the shine stays low, without reaching the matte of the honed finish.

Questions about Sky Pearl quartzite
What is the difference between Sky Pearl quartzite and Colorado quartzite?
They are two quartzites with pronounced patterns. Each goes its own way: in its photo, Colorado quartzite brings cream and dark gray horizontal waves, full of movement, with an orange touch here and there. The Sky Pearl in the photo arranges dark gray bands, parallel and dense, on the diagonal over a greige background.
Does Sky Pearl quartzite hold up to kitchen use?
Yes. A knife does not mark it. Lemon or vinegar, which dulls the shine of a marble, wears on it far less; the heat of a pot does not punish it the way it punishes marble either. Still, cut on a board: it protects the knife's edge, not the stone.
Is Sky Pearl quartzite the same as engineered quartz?
No. Engineered quartz and quartzite resemble each other in the name, not in the origin: Sky Pearl is a quartz-rich sandstone that heat and pressure hardened into solid rock; engineered quartz, on the other hand, is a man-made composite.
Does Sky Pearl quartzite need sealer?
It depends on the stone: some quartzites barely absorb water and others do call for sealer. Drop a little water on an offcut: if the offcut looks darker right where the drop fell, that piece needs sealer. With sealer, the slab resists everyday kitchen stains better.
