Granite, marble and quartzite countertops for your kitchen

You choose the real slabs in photos or video and we coordinate the cut to the measurements of your kitchen. We ship to any country and, when the project calls for it, we also arrange installation.

Marble, granite or quartzite for the kitchen?

All three look great on day one. The difference is how they age with the use you will give them.

  • Slab of Titanium Black granite

    Granite

    Holds up
Knives, hot pots and lemon: the hardest and least porous of the three.
    Keep in mind
A trivet is better for pots just off the stove. Light granites are worth sealing.

  • Slab of Taj Mahal quartzite

    Quartzite

    Holds up
Almost the same as granite, with the soft veining of a light marble.
    Keep in mind
Some slabs sold as quartzite are dolomitic marble and etch with acids. Before you buy, we confirm that yours is genuine quartzite.

  • Slab of Carrara marble

    Marble

    Holds up
A lifetime of use if you choose it knowing it will take on a patina.
    Keep in mind
Lemon, vinegar and wine leave matte marks even when it is sealed. On a lappato finish they show far less than on polished.

Countertops made to measure

Every kitchen is drawn before it is cut: where each seam, each cutout and each edge profile falls.

  1. BacksplashIf it comes from the same slab as the countertop, the veining runs up the wall without cuts.
  2. SeamsA slab is rarely more than about 3 meters long. In a large kitchen we decide with you where each seam goes, so it sits where it shows least.
  3. SinkUndermount, so the counter wipes clean in one pass, or integrated and carved from the same stone.
  4. CooktopThe cutout is made to the measurements of the appliance you will install, so it is best to have it chosen.
  5. EdgeStraight, beveled, bullnosed or mitered, which makes 2 cm look like 6.
  6. Waterfall sideThe stone drops to the floor at the island and the veining continues from the countertop down the side.

Countertop in the US, worktop in the UK: every country has its own word for it. The raised part you have breakfast at is the bar. It is the same stone.

How much a granite countertop costs

It depends above all on the stone and on how many slabs your design needs, not just on the square meters. An island with a waterfall or a backsplash from the same slab uses more stone than a straight countertop.

Questions about kitchen countertops

We also make bathroom sinks and vanity tops. See how the stone reaches your country.

What is better for a kitchen: granite, marble or quartzite?

For daily use, granite and genuine quartzite: they resist scratching and heat, and lemon will not dull them. Marble is for those who want its veining and accept that acids leave matte marks; on a lappato finish they show less.

What thickness should a kitchen countertop have?

Kitchens mostly use 2 and 3 cm. With 2 cm and a mitered edge the counter looks thick and weighs less; with 3 cm you gain solidity on islands with an overhang or on long runs without support.

Does a granite countertop need to be sealed?

Dark, dense granites barely absorb and often do not need it. Light ones and most marbles and quartzites are worth sealing against oil or wine stains. Repeat every one or two years. Sealer does not protect marble from lemon or vinegar.

Countertop or worktop: are they the same thing?

Yes. It is the kitchen's work surface, called a countertop in the US and a worktop in the UK. We make it in granite, marble or quartzite, built to the measurements of your kitchen.

Do you ship kitchen countertops to other countries?

Yes. We ship to any country and, when the project calls for it, we also arrange installation. Before the cut you approve the slabs in photos or video, so you know what veining your kitchen will have.
