Vancouver quartzite

Quartzite · Brazil

Lime green bands ripple horizontally across the greenish black in the Vancouver quartzite photo. This is a quartzite built for the pace of a kitchen, a bathroom or a dining table.

What Vancouver Quartzite looks like

Greenish black at its base, crossed by wavy lime green bands that run horizontally across the slab in the photo. Fine lines and touches of olive green and white complete a fluid, high-contrast pattern. This slab, polished and glossy in the photo, has a pattern that varies in moderation.

Vancouver Quartzite finishes

Over this greenish black background, the finish decides how much the surface shines: polished for gloss, honed for matte, leathered for texture.

  • Polished

The one in the photo: mirror gloss over the whole surface, which gets slippery when the floor is wet.

  • Honed

It takes the gloss off the Vancouver; this is the one for floors and showers.

  • Leathered

A textured surface with less shine than polished.

Questions about Vancouver Quartzite

What is the difference between Vancouver quartzite and Lapponia Green?

The color of the waves. In its photo, Lapponia Green mixes emerald green and black with large pinkish white waves. Vancouver, in its own, is greenish black with horizontal wavy bands of lime green.

Does Vancouver quartzite work in a kitchen?

Yes: on a Vancouver countertop a knife leaves no mark, and a pot straight off the stove does it far less harm than it would do marble. For the knife, a cutting board is better: the edge suffers more than the stone.

Does Vancouver quartzite need to be sealed?

A drop of water on an offcut gives the clue: if the greenish black darkens further under it, sealing is a good idea. Porosity varies from quartzite to quartzite, and its stain resistance is medium. To clean it, water and neutral soap.

Is the photo a real slab?

Real: it shows a Vancouver quartzite slab, complete and in a close shot. Before you buy, we send you photos of the slabs available for your order.
