Blue Atlantic quartzite

Quartzite · Brazil

A strong orange vein crosses the top of the slab in the photo, over horizontal grayish blue bands. Blue Atlantic quartzite pairs that high contrast with the hardness of a quartzite: it stands up to kitchens, bathrooms and walls in daily use.

What Blue Atlantic Quartzite Looks Like

Horizontal grayish blue bands fill the slab in the photo, and a strong orange vein crosses them near the top. Inside the bands run ocher-orange lines, fine white veins cross at an angle, and turquoise completes the palette. High contrast does the rest: grayish blue, white and orange separate effortlessly, with the polished gloss the photo shows. Within this slab there are stretches that differ a lot.

Blue Atlantic Quartzite finishes

The photo shows polished; honed and leathered change the reflection and the feel of the same stone.

  • Polished

The one in the photo: high gloss on the grayish blue and the orange vein.

  • Honed

Takes the polished reflection away and stays matte; it is less slippery in areas that get wet.

  • Leathered

A soft relief under the hand, and the gloss drops compared to polished.

Questions about Blue Atlantic Quartzite

How does Blue Atlantic differ from Ijene Blue quartzite?

Both are blue quartzites and both carry ocher in their pattern. In the Blue Atlantic photo, the grayish blue runs in horizontal bands and a strong orange vein crosses the top. Ijene Blue, in its photo, is slate blue, crossed by fine ocher veins running at angles. Choose by pattern: bold bands or fine streaks.

How does Blue Atlantic quartzite hold up in the kitchen?

Very well: quartzite hardness lets the knife pass without marking it; heat and the acids in lemon or wine do far less to it than to a marble. Cut on a board, not for the stone: what you protect there is the knife edge.

Does Blue Atlantic quartzite need sealer?

It depends on how much your slab absorbs: quartzites differ in porosity. Test it by wetting a cut-off piece: if the stone changes tone where the water lands, that piece needs sealing. For daily cleaning, water with a neutral soap is enough.

Is the slab in the photo really a Blue Atlantic?

Yes: both shots, the full slab and its close-up, come from a real Blue Atlantic. Every slab carries its own pattern, and yours may differ from the photo. Before you buy, we send you photos of the slabs available for your order.
