How to choose a black marble
What varies most from one slab to another. If you are unsure, send us a photo of the space and we will suggest two or three options.
- Black with white veining
The Nero Marquina is the classic: black background with fine white veins. The Grand Antique mixes black and white in a high-contrast breccia.
- Black with gold veining
The Portoro, the Sahara Noir and the Black & Gold carry gold veins over a black background. They are the most requested for bathrooms and living room walls.
- How to care for it
On dark marble, lemon or vinegar marks are more visible than on white. That is why it works better on walls, in bathrooms and on furniture than on the countertop of a daily-use kitchen.

Questions about black marble
Which black marble has a gold vein?
In the catalog: Portoro, Nero Portoro, Sahara Noir, Port Laurent and Black & Gold. They differ in the size and amount of veining: see it in the photo of each slab.
Does black marble stain?
It does not stain more than any other marble, but acid marks (lemon, vinegar, some cleaners) show more because they leave a matte patch on the glossy black. Clean it with water and neutral soap.
Black marble or black granite?
Black marble has veins and black granite is usually plain or speckled. For a daily-use kitchen, black granite holds up better; in a bathroom or on a wall, marble looks better.
