What Grand Antique Marble Looks Like
A deep black covers almost the whole slab, with fine white veins on the left side. On the right the pattern changes: a dense brecciated area of broken white fragments, the part that draws the eye most in the photo. Between the intense black and the broken white, contrast is high. The finish in the photo is a high-gloss polish. This slab changes a lot from one side to the other. Each slab distributes black and white in its own way: yours is chosen from photos.

Questions about Grand Antique Marble
How is it different from Portoro marble?
In Portoro, the black fragments are wrapped in a dense network of gold and white veins. The Grand Antique slab in the photo keeps a broad black field and gathers the white into a brecciated area on one side. If you are torn between the two, look at the photos of Portoro Marble.
Can Grand Antique hold up to kitchen work?
It handles everyday use, as long as you accept that the surface will take on a patina over the years; it is not the stone for someone who wants a countertop with no marks at all. Lemon, vinegar and wine leave a dull mark in the polish: it is a chemical reaction, not a stain. If you want to compare, natural stone for kitchens includes granite, which stands up better to acids.
Does Grand Antique marble need a sealer?
Yes, depending on how much the slab absorbs. A sealer reduces the marble's absorption, though it never makes it waterproof. Place a drop of water on the slab: if the area under it looks darker a little later, ask for sealer before putting it to use. To clean, water and mild soap, wiping up any acidic liquid right away.
Is the photo a real slab?
Yes: the full slab and the close-up detail come from a single Grand Antique slab. Black and white are distributed differently in each slab. Before you buy, we send photos of the slabs available for your order.
