How to Choose a Black Granite

What varies most from one slab to another. If you are unsure, send us a photo of the space and we will suggest two or three options.

  • Flat black

Nero Assoluto is an even black, almost without dots. It is the most popular choice for modern kitchen countertops.

  • Black with dots

Titanium Black and Star Galaxy have light or golden dots that catch the light.

  • Black with movement

Copacabana and Matrix have light veining that moves across the slab, like a marble.

Questions About Black Granite

Polished or leathered black granite?

On polished black, dust, fingerprints and water marks show more. The leathered finish is matte and textured, and it hides them better.

Does black granite stain?

It absorbs very little. Seal it when it is installed and clean it with water and neutral soap.

Black granite or black marble?

For a daily-use kitchen, granite: it resists heat, scratches and lemon. Black marble has more veining and shines more in bathrooms and on walls.
