Nero Boreale marble

Marble · Italy

Curved white fossil shells stand out against a blue-black background in the slab photo of Nero Boreale marble. It is an indoor marble at its best in bathrooms and on walls.

It is also known as Nero Boreale.

The blue-black and the shells of Nero Boreale

The background of this slab is a blue-black, a tone away from pure black. Against it stand out curved white fossil shells, concentrated on the right half. There are no veins: the shells build the whole pattern. The contrast between the white and the background is high, and so is the variation within the slab, which is marked. The photo shows the polish at full shine, with the shells clearly visible against the background.

Dust and water marks show more on a blue-black background than on a light stone; drying it with a cloth at the end of cleaning helps keep them from showing.

Finishes for Nero Boreale

On a black with white shells, the finish decides how much the surface shines.

  • Polished

The highest gloss and the smoothest surface; it is the finish in the photo.

  • Honed

Matte and soft to the touch; in the shower your feet grip better without gloss.

  • Brushed

Fine scratching and a muted shine; another option for wet areas of the house.

  • Antiqued

It breaks the mirror of the polish: the black ends up matte, with a soft relief.

Questions about Nero Boreale marble

Are Nero Boreale and Negro Boreale the same stone?

Yes: they are the same marble. Nero Boreale is another spelling of the name, and both are used for this stone. Before you buy, we send you photos of the slabs available for your order.

How does it differ from Fossil Black marble?

In its photo, Fossil Black has a black background covered with elongated fossils, light gray cones. In the Nero Boreale photo, the curved white shells concentrate on the right half, over a blue-black background. Between the two photos, the shape and the color of the fossils change.

Does Nero Boreale work for a kitchen countertop?

Yes, if you accept the patina: where lemon, wine or tomato lands, the polish dulls right there, and the mark only comes out by re-polishing. If you prefer fewer acid marks, granite holds up better on that front.

How do I know if Nero Boreale needs sealer?

With the water drop test: leave a drop on the stone and watch whether the marble under it darkens. If it darkens, the stone absorbs and it is time to apply sealer; if not, it is not needed yet. For daily cleaning, water with neutral soap. Dry any acid quickly.

How does Nero Boreale reach my country?

We ship to any country, with the stone's documents of origin and its CE certification. On the shipping page we explain how it reaches each region.
