Pierre Bleu marble

Marble · Belgium

Light flecks and fossils scattered across a bluish black background: the slab in the Pierre Bleu marble photo has no vein at all, and the contrast is low. Bathrooms and walls are its ground; outdoors is not its place.

What Pierre Bleu marble looks like

Black with a bluish tint and sown with light flecks: that is the first read of this slab. The flecks are small and light, with light fossils scattered among them; no vein appears on the surface. With such low contrast, the slab reads as an even dark mass. In the photo the finish is matte, and across the slab the spread of flecks and fossils stays uniform.

With such a dark background, every light object you put in front of it gains presence: on bathroom walls, that contrast works in your favor.

Pierre Bleu marble finishes

In a stone without veins, the finish decides how much the surface shines.

  • Polished

High shine: it multiplies the reflection on the dark background. Wet, it slips.

  • Honed

Matte surface with a soft feel: where the stone gets wet, it works better than the shine of a polish.

  • Brushed

A matte with texture: the fine brushing breaks the reflection and also works where there is water.

  • Antiqued

Softened shine, a smoothed feel and the look of a stone that has lived; it fits indoor floors.

Questions about Pierre Bleu Marble

How does it differ from Bianco Martel marble?

In the order of the colors. In its photo, Bianco Martel is a plain light gray with many small dark dots; the slab in the Pierre Bleu photo inverts the scheme, with a bluish black background and light flecks and fossils. In both, the pattern comes from small scattered dots; the choice depends on the background tone you want.

How does Pierre Bleu marble behave in a kitchen?

With one condition: that you accept the countertop taking wear marks over the years. Acid from lemon, vinegar or tomato dulls the shine where it lands: it is a chemical reaction, and that mark comes off by polishing, not by cleaning. If you prefer a more forgiving surface, granite stands up to acids better.

How do you clean it, and when does it need sealing?

Daily cleaning is water and neutral soap; acidic liquid does not wait: dry it as soon as it spills. For the sealer, let the water drop test decide: if the wet patch looks darker after a while, the stone is absorbing and it is time to seal.

Is the photo a real slab?

Yes: both shots, the full slab and the close-up of the speckling, come from a genuine Pierre Bleu slab. The one you receive is chosen from photos, because each slab spreads its flecks and fossils its own way. Before you buy we send photos of the slabs available for your order.
