What Fantastico Onyx looks like
Dense, parallel horizontal bands cross the slab in the photo, alternating white, reddish brown and ochre, with touches of burgundy. The contrast between bands is high: each band stands apart from the next. This is the banding of onyx, a stone formed by layers of calcite or aragonite deposited by water. Within the slab, polished and glossy, the rhythm of the bands varies moderately.

Questions about Fantastico Onyx
What is the difference between Fantastico Onyx and Arabescato Rosso marble?
Both carry horizontal bands, but they are different stones. In its photo, Arabescato Rosso marble waves in brick red and cream with a gray and black band on top. In yours, Fantastico Onyx carries parallel, strongly marked bands in white, reddish and ochre. The big difference is the light: the onyx lets lighting through and the marble does not.
Can Fantastico Onyx be backlit?
Yes: with a light behind, the bands let the light through and glow; it is the star use of this onyx. The source must be even and cool, so it does not heat the stone.
Does Fantastico Onyx work for a kitchen countertop?
Not for the work surface: as a countertop, the stone scratches easily and the acids in lemon or vinegar leave marks just like on marble. In the kitchen it fits better on a wall or the front of a bar.
How do you clean Fantastico Onyx?
A soft cloth dampened with water and neutral soap is enough. Acidic cleaners or abrasives are out: acids etch the stone and abrasives scratch it. Dry any water left on the surface as well, to avoid marks.
How does Fantastico Onyx reach my country?
We ship to any country, with the stone's documents of origin and its CE certification. On the shipping page we explain how it reaches each region.
