white onyx

Onyx · Iran and Pakistan

Creamy white, soft clouds and a few very fine gold lines: that is what the white onyx slab photo shows. Like every onyx, it lets light through and goes on interior walls, with or without a light behind.

It is also known as Onice Bianco.

What White Onyx looks like

A creamy white fills the slab in the photo, and soft clouds open over it, with passes of pale greenish cream that almost blend into the background. The only color accent is a few very fine gold lines at the lower right. Contrast is low and the pattern stays even from one side of the slab to the other. Like every onyx, it lets light through. The uniform gloss in the photo is the polish.

If your wall takes several pieces, ask for consecutive slabs, bookmatched: that way the clouds of one piece carry on into the next.

White Onyx, polished or with a light behind

In a slab this even, the finish leads: the gloss of polish, a fine matte, or lit from behind.

  • Polished

The one in the photo: a deep gloss over the creamy white.

  • Honed

Swap the polish gloss for a fine matte: the reflection disappears.

  • Backlit

Its best moment: an even, cool light behind lights up the white.

Questions about White Onyx

What is Onice Bianco?

Onice Bianco is another way of writing white onyx. It is the same stone, not a separate variant.

Does White Onyx take a light behind it?

Yes, it is the stone's signature use. The stone is translucent: an even, cool light source placed behind lights up the background and shows the clouds in transparency. The source must spread the light without heating the stone.

How does it differ from Carrara marble?

Mainly in the pattern and the light. In its photo, Carrara marble is a grayish white, with fine gray veining spread across the whole surface; this onyx has a creamier background and no gray in the pattern. The other difference: marble lets no light through; this onyx does. The care is similar: lemon or vinegar etches both.

How do you clean White Onyx?

For daily cleaning, a soft cloth dampened in water with neutral soap is enough. Dry the water after you wipe, because on a background this light, water marks stay in view. Acid cleaners and abrasives are out: they mark the surface the same way they mark a marble.

How does White Onyx reach my country?

We ship to any country, with the stone's documents of origin and its CE certification. On the shipping page we explain how it reaches each region.
