Cipollino Viola marble

Marble · Italy

Fine folds of white and violet veins cross this slab on the diagonal over a reddish violet background. Cipollino Viola marble performs best in bathrooms and walls, where its dense pattern reads whole.

It is also known as Cipollino Violeta.

What Cipollino Viola Marble looks like

Reddish violet dominates the slab, with brown touches in the pattern. The veins are fine, white and violet, folded on the diagonal and so dense that the pattern flows from one edge to the other. The white of the veins stands off the violet at medium contrast. The folds change a lot from one zone of this slab to another.

Cipollino Viola Marble finishes

With so much violet fold, the finish decides how much light the stone gives back.

  • Polished

It deepens the reddish violet background and makes every fine white vein shine.

  • Honed

It takes down the reflection and leaves a soft feel; where the floor gets wet, it is less slippery than polished.

  • Brushed

No gloss and a texture you can feel; on floors with constant traffic it does not show the wear that polished takes.

Questions about Cipollino Viola marble

Are Cipollino Viola and Cipollino Violeta the same stone?

Yes. Two names for the same stone: Cipollino Violeta is the translated name and Cipollino Viola is the one this page carries. It makes no difference which one you search for.

Does it look like Calacatta Viola?

They share the violet and the intensity of the pattern, but the structure sets them apart. In Calacatta Viola, white fragments sit inside a very dense dark violet web at the center of the slab; Cipollino Viola keeps a reddish violet background crossed by fine folds on the diagonal.

Does Cipollino Viola work in a kitchen?

It works, as long as you accept everyday wear marks. Acid from lemon, wine or tomato dulls the gloss where it lands and leaves a dull patch that cleaning does not fix; only re-polishing brings it back. Over the years, that surface takes on a patina of use. If you want it flawless all the time, ask about a granite or a quartzite.

What Care Does This Stone Need?

pH neutral soap and water to clean it. If wine, tomato or anything acid spills, pick the liquid up right away. A sealer reduces what the stone absorbs; it does not make it waterproof. To know when to renew it, put a drop of water on the surface: if it darkens, seal again.

Can I get it in my country?

We ship to any country, with the stone's documents of origin and its CE certification. On the shipping page we explain how it reaches each region.
