The zigzag of the amethyst in its photo
Dark violet crystals fill this slab, with white and lilac zigzag bands running tightly between them. Within the same slab the zigzag changes shape noticeably, in high contrast against the violet. Crystals and bands alike carry the shine of the polish. Every slab comes out different: you choose yours from photos of the slabs available.

Where does an amethyst slab work?
- WallsAccent walls and headboards that get seen up close
- TablesYes on tables; hot items go on trivets
- BathroomsA vanity or a bathroom wall, never in the shower
- KitchenNot as a countertop: the stove puts direct heat on the resin
- Interior floorsNo: foot traffic scratches the resin that bonds the crystals
- OutdoorsNot outdoors: the resin is sensitive to strong sun
- ScratchesMedium
- StainsMedium
- HeatLow
If you want amethyst with light behind it, plan for it in the design of the wall or the piece of furniture: the light source sits behind the panel and must not heat the resin.
Amethyst finishes: polished and backlit
Two finishes for amethyst: the polish you see in the photo, or a light installed behind the panel.
-
Polished
The finish in the slab photo: an even shine over the violet crystals and the zigzag bands.
-
Backlit
With an even light behind it, amethyst can let light through, and the panel changes completely.

Questions about amethyst
Is amethyst a single crystal or joined pieces?
They are joined pieces: chunks of natural amethyst bonded with resin onto a base. The result is a mosaic of crystals, not one continuous stone. Before you buy, we send photos of the slabs available for your order.
Can you put light behind amethyst?
Yes. Amethyst is one of the translucent stones: with an even light source behind it, the panel lets light through and changes completely.
Can I use it on a floor or a terrace?
Not on either one. The crystal is hard (7 on the Mohs scale), but underfoot it is the resin holding it together that scratches. Outdoors, strong sun also attacks that same resin. Keep amethyst for a wall, a table or a covered vanity.
How do you clean an amethyst table?
With water and a soft cloth; never solvents or abrasives. Hot pots and cups go on trivets, because the resin bonding the crystals does not take direct heat.
How is amethyst different from purple agate?
In its photo, purple agate is assembled from large slices of blue-violet agate with crystalline lilac centers. The amethyst slab in the photo, instead, shows dark violet crystals with white and lilac zigzag bands. Both are panels assembled by hand with resin.
