Cipollino Ondulato marble

Marble · Italy

Cipollino Ondulato Marble has a deep purple background with white veins that wave and fold across the whole slab. A pattern this dense finds its place in bathrooms and on walls.

What Cipollino Ondulato Marble looks like

A deep purple background fills the slab in the photo, crossed by white veins that wave and fold again and again. The veins are dense: the white repeats across the whole surface, with black touches and a hint of green breaking up the purple. The contrast is high and the white stands out sharply against the background. The pattern flows from side to side, and within the slab its variation is marked. With the glossy polish in the photo, light runs along every wave and keeps the pattern front and center.

Cipollino Ondulato Marble finishes

The deep purple takes everything from mirror gloss to textured mattes; each one changes how the veins reflect.

  • Polished

Returns the most reflection: the purple looks deep and every white wave shines.

  • Honed

Swaps the shine for a soft matte; the surface slips less in the shower.

  • Brushed

Fine-stripe texture with no shine; with no mirror, the shine loss from foot traffic does not show.

Questions about Cipollino Ondulato marble

Do Calacatta Viola and Cipollino Ondulato look alike?

They are alike in color family and nothing more. Calacatta Viola builds its pattern from white fragments inside a dark violet web, very tight at the center. Here the background leads: deep purple with white veins that wave and fold across the surface.

Does it work for a kitchen countertop?

It fits in a kitchen, but expect the surface to take on a patina. Marble takes marks from acids: a splash of lemon or wine leaves a matte zone in the shine, something repolishing the piece fixes. If you want a kitchen with no visible marks, granite holds up better against acids.

What do I do if wine or lemon lands on the stone?

Dry the liquid right away. The acid leaves a matte zone in the polish that soap will not remove, because the change is chemical and is corrected by repolishing the piece. For the rest, water and a neutral soap are enough; the sealer is applied depending on how much the slab absorbs.

Will the purple of my slab match the photo?

The photo shows a real Cipollino Ondulato slab with its glossy polish; the close-up brings the folds near. It will not be identical: every slab is different. Before you buy, we send you photos of the slabs available for your order.
