What Calacatta Siena marble looks like
Pale yellow fills the slab in the photo, and over it a dense web of thick golden ochre veins weaves across in a horizontal run. The contrast is high: the golden web rules the whole surface and reads from far away. Light gray completes the palette among all that yellow and ochre. In this slab the pattern variation is strong. Each slab builds its own web: the one that will go to your job is confirmed with photos.

Calacatta Siena marble finishes
In Calacatta Siena, the finish decides how much the background shines and how much the ochre web stands out.
-
Polished
Mirror gloss: the ochre of the veins stands out at full strength over the pale yellow background.
-
Honed
Matte and soft to the touch: the comfortable choice for floors and showers; the golden web loses intensity.
-
Brushed
Fine lines across the width that leave a firm feel; the pattern softens and it slips less when wet.
-
Antiqued
A marked texture and a dull sheen, with the air of old stone; on floors, wear from use shows less.

Questions about Calacatta Siena marble
What is the difference between Calacatta Siena and Giallo Siena?
In Giallo Siena, the web of intense yellow veins is so dense it covers almost the whole cream background. Calacatta Siena shows more of the pale yellow background between its ochre web, which runs horizontally.
How does it behave in the kitchen?
With one condition: marble reacts to acids. Lemon or wine etch the polished gloss, and that dull mark will not come out with cleaning. Over the years those marks form a patina over the ochre web: if that works for you, the kitchen works. If you prefer a surface without wear marks, the marble or granite guide compares more forgiving options.
What care does Calacatta Siena need?
Daily care is a damp cloth and neutral soap; acidic liquids get dried at once. It is worth sealing the stone according to how much it absorbs: drop a little water on it and see whether the spot darkens after a while. The sealer helps, though the stone remains porous.
Are the slabs in the photos real?
The two photos on the page show a real Calacatta Siena slab: whole, and in a close detail. Before you buy, we send you photos of the slabs available for your order.
How does it reach my country?
