What Nero Africa Granite Looks Like
A uniform grayish black covers the whole slab: the fine grain fills the background and only a light gray speckle breaks it, with no veins and no zones of different pattern. With that low contrast, the whole surface reads the same. The grain repeats across the slab, so matching several pieces of one job is simple. The photo is polished, with an even gloss over the black.

Nero Africa Granite Finishes
All four finishes work for this stone: what changes is how much the surface shines and how it feels to the touch.
-
Polished
The gloss in the photo: the black turns reflective, with fingerprints and water drops in plain view.
-
Honed
Takes down the polish reflection and leaves the black matte, with a soft feel.
-
Leathered
A texture you can feel that hides fingerprints; the gloss stays low.
-
Flamed
The surface turns rough and slips less than polished. It is used outdoors and on pool coping.

Questions About Nero Africa Granite
How is Nero Africa different from other black granites?
In its photo, Nero Assoluto granite is a uniform black with no pattern. Titanium Black granite looks almost smooth: its very fine grain only shows up close. Stargate granite leans toward charcoal gray, with gray and violet crystals. In its own photo, Nero Africa is a fine-grained black, lightly speckled with gray.
Does Nero Africa granite work for a kitchen countertop?
Yes. As a granite, it takes the heat of a pot, the scratches of dishes and the acids of lemon or vinegar, things that cost a marble more. Stain resistance is also high with sealer. A countertop puts those three resistances to the test at once.
What care does Nero Africa granite need?
For daily cleaning, water and a little neutral soap are enough. Watch out for cleaners with concentrated bleach: they dull the sealer that protects the stone. Dark granites usually absorb less than light ones; even so, the sealer remains part of the care.
Are Negro Africa and Nero Africa the same stone?
It is the same stone: Negro Africa is another way of writing Nero Africa. Order it under whichever name you prefer.
