Pinta Verde marble

Marble · Brazil

The Pinta Verde marble slab in the photo lines up in horizontal bands: a white background splashed with emerald green patches and gray marks. It is a marble for walls and bathrooms, the two uses where it works best.

What Pinta Verde marble looks like

White background with emerald green splashes: the slab in the photo builds its pattern in horizontal bands, with light gray marks. The green concentrates mostly in the upper part of the slab. The contrast between white and green is medium. Within this slab the variation is strong: the spread of patches changes from one area to another.

Pinta Verde marble finishes

The polished finish in the photo is only a starting point: honed, brushed and antiqued change the sheen and feel of the same stone.

  • Polished

The one in the photo: the surface reflects light; it is the shiniest of the four finishes.

  • Honed

Removes the reflection and leaves the surface matte: the choice for showers and floor areas that get wet.

  • Brushed

Brushes leave fine striations you can feel and cut the reflection compared to polished.

  • Antiqued

Matte and textured, like stone settled by time; you notice it when you run your hand over it.

Questions about Pinta Verde marble

How does it differ from Cipollino marble?

Both are marbles with green banding, but the patterns are nothing alike: in its photo, Cipollino carries wavy dark and light green bands, eye-shaped at the center. In the Pinta Verde photo the bands run horizontal, white with emerald green splashes and gray marks. If you like fine, wavy banding, Camellia Green carries it in grayish green with a marked black band at the bottom in its photo.

Does Pinta Verde marble work for a kitchen countertop?

Yes, with one condition: accepting that the patina of daily use will show. On a white background like this slab's, any mark shows right away. On a countertop, sealer and a cutting board are a good idea: acid from lemon or wine leaves an opaque etch mark on the polish that cleaning will not remove. If you want fewer marks, the marble or granite guide helps you compare options.

What care does Pinta Verde marble need?

A soft cloth with water and neutral soap is all it takes to clean it. On a white background like the one in the photo, any residue shows as soon as it lands, so acidic liquids like lemon, wine or tomato get wiped up right away. Sealer helps the stone absorb less, but it never makes it waterproof: the water drop test tells you when it is time to reseal.

How does Pinta Verde marble perform on a bathroom floor?

Fine indoors, with one adjustment: where the floor gets wet, ask for honed or brushed, because polished stone is slippery when wet. Daily traffic dulls the shine little by little; if that happens, a re-polish brings it back.
