What Giallo D'Istria marble looks like
Cloud-shaped grayish beige stains cover a light cream background. No vein crosses the slab in the photo: the stains build the pattern, not striping. The speckling mixes ivory, cream and grayish beige tones at low contrast. The cloud pattern varies moderately along the slab. Up close, the small pores show on the cream.

Giallo D'Istria marble finishes
What changes with the finish is the gloss, the feel and how slippery the surface gets.
-
Polished
It raises the gloss on the cream background; it gets slippery on a wet floor.
-
Honed
It removes the reflection and softens the feel; the right one for showers and wet bathroom floors.
-
Brushed
It leaves a matte finish with a fine relief you can feel; the other option for wet bathroom floors.
-
Antiqued
It mellows the cream with an aged tone; it matches the patina the marble takes on over time.

Questions about Giallo D'Istria marble
Why does the name say yellow if the slab is cream?
The name is commercial and does not describe the photo: the same stone is also sold as Amarillo D'Istria, its name in Spanish. For the true tone, the reference is the slab on this page. Before you buy, we send photos of the slabs available for your order.
How do I tell it apart from New Marfil marble?
Both are light creams with no veins. New Marfil marble is a very even cream, fine-grained and nearly the same across the whole slab. Giallo D'Istria carries grayish beige clouds spread over the cream background.
Can it hold up as a kitchen countertop?
A countertop is possible if you accept that the stone takes a patina: where lemon or wine lands, a dull area stays in the polish, and that area does not clean off; you repolish it or accept it. If you want a surface that stays the same against acids, granite holds up much better. On natural stone for kitchens we compare the two families.
What cleaning does Giallo D'Istria marble need?
Day to day, water and neutral soap. Acid cleaners stay out of the routine. Coffee, wine or tomato: as soon as one lands, dry it. The sealer is decided with the drop test: if the slab drinks it fast, it is time to seal.
How do I receive Giallo D'Istria marble in my country?
We ship to any country, with the stone's documents of origin and its CE certification. On the shipping page we explain how it reaches each region.
