What Thassos marble looks like
The background of Thassos is pure white: not a single vein shows in the slab photo. With an even pattern and low contrast, it is a stone that lets the furniture and the colors of the room take the lead. Within a slab the white does not change; from one slab to the next, each comes out different. Yours is chosen from photos of the available slabs.

Thassos marble finishes
In a stone with no pattern, the finish leads: it defines how the surface looks.
-
Polished
It is the finish with the most shine: the white looks brighter and the room gains light.
-
Honed
It tones down the shine of the white and leaves a firm matte: for showers and floors where water falls.
-
Brushed
Fine lines you can feel; together with the honed finish, it is one of the choices for showers and wet floors.
-
Antiqued
No shine, with a look softened by time: an option for interior floors.

Questions about Thassos marble
Are White Thassos and Bianco Sivec similar?
Yes, quite a bit: Sivec also comes in a very pure, uniform white with practically no pattern. Since both are described with the same words, the difference shows in the slab: compare the Sivec photo with the slab photo of this stone.
Is Bianco Thassos a different stone?
No, it is the same stone. Bianco Thassos is the trade name it also goes by in catalogs and quotes. If your reference carries that name, it means this page.
Does Thassos marble work in the kitchen?
It can, with one condition: lemon, wine or vinegar leave a dull mark on the polish that cleaning will not remove; it is fixed by polishing the stone again. It works if you accept that the countertop will take on a patina of use over the years. If you want a surface that does not mark, granite is harder and resists acids better: the kitchen page has the options.
What cleaning does Thassos marble need?
Water with a neutral soap is enough for everyday cleaning; acidic cleaners are out, because they mark the polish. If wine or tomato spills, dry it right away. If you are unsure about the sealer, the water drop test decides: when the stone absorbs it and darkens, it is time to seal.
How does Thassos marble reach my country?
We ship to any country, with the stone's documents of origin and its CE certification. On the shipping page we explain how it reaches each region.
