Luminous marble

Marble · Angola

Wide, intense lemon yellow veins cross a bluish white background in the photo of the Luminous marble slab. Bathrooms and interior walls are its ground.

What Luminous marble looks like

Over a bluish white background with hints of light bluish gray run intense lemon yellow veins, wide and irregular in their stroke: the contrast between yellow and white is high. In this slab the veining concentrates in the lower half, and the pattern changes from one area to another. Luminous is a trade name: the photo shows the color of the vein, not the name.

If the shower has a floor of this stone, order it honed: glossy polish is slippery with water.

Luminous marble finishes

Polished brings out the gloss in the photo; the other finishes lower it and change how the surface feels to the hand.

  • Polished

The one in the photo, with high reflection and a smooth surface; it slips when wet.

  • Honed

A matte, soft surface: it grips better where there is water, from the shower floor to the vanity.

  • Brushed

Fine parallel lines under the hand: it keeps the gloss low and helps on floors that get wet.

Questions about Luminous marble

How is it different from other white marbles?

The Bianco Covelano Macchia Vecchia marble also starts from a white, but its vein is black and wavy. The Bianco Gioia carries gray veins on the diagonal, and the Bianco Laser is almost smooth, with very soft horizontal lines. Of the four, the slab in the Luminous photo is the one with lemon yellow veins.

Does it work for a kitchen countertop?

It works, with one condition: you accept the patina that years of use leave on a marble. Acid from lemon or wine etches the polish with a dull patch. A bluish white background shows it fast: wipe up spills as soon as they happen. To compare it with everyday workhorse stones, see the natural stone for kitchens page.

Does Luminous marble need sealer?

It depends on the slab: sealer reduces how much the marble absorbs, it does not make it waterproof. The test is the water drop: if the stone darkens where it fell, seal the surface before you use it. Day to day, water and pH-neutral soap are enough to clean it.

Is the photo a real slab?

Yes. They are photos of a real Luminous marble slab, first the whole piece and then the close-up detail. As with any marble, every slab is different: yours is chosen from photos. Before you buy, we send you photos of the slabs available for your order.
