What Jolie Grey marble looks like
White and light gray veins of medium width run across the slab diagonally and cross to form diamonds over the dark gray background. That crossing of light strokes is what sets Jolie Grey apart: a medium-contrast pattern, with tones running from dark gray to white under the gloss of the polish in the photo. Within the slab, the diamond pattern varies moderately.

Where to use Jolie Grey marble?
- BathroomsShowers, vanities and walls; matte where it gets wet
- WallsWalls where the diamond pattern shows in full
- Interior floorsInterior floors; in wet areas, honed
- TablesDining tables; trivets for anything hot
- KitchenKitchens: countertops for anyone who accepts marks over the years
- OutdoorsOutdoors it loses its polish; matte finish only

If you are putting it in a shower or on a floor, ask for a honed or brushed finish: wet polish is slippery, and in traffic areas the shine wears away.
Jolie Grey marble finishes
On this dark gray, the finish decides how much the surface shines and how much the diamond pattern stands out.
-
Polished
The one in the photo: it deepens the dark gray and cuts the light veins out sharp.
-
Honed
It removes the reflection and leaves the gray matte; it slips less in showers and on wet floors.
-
Brushed
Fine brush lines that add texture and break the reflection of the polish.
-
Antiqued
A muted shine and a worn texture: it gives the gray a more rustic air.

Questions about Jolie Grey marble
How do I tell Jolie Grey apart from Grey Saint Laurent?
Grey Saint Laurent is also a dark gray, but its pattern runs a different way: elongated white patches and a fine network of light and golden veins. Jolie Grey, instead, forms defined diamonds with white and light gray veins. You can compare the two photos on the Grey Saint Laurent page.
How does Jolie Grey marble hold up in the kitchen?
On the countertop it works if you accept that it will take on a patina over the years: the acids of lemon, wine or tomato leave a dull mark on the polish that only comes off by re-polishing the piece. Against a granite, a knife also marks it more easily. Day to day, it helps to dry acidic liquids quickly and cut on a board. If you want a countertop with no marks over time, compare other stones under natural stone for kitchens.
Does Jolie Grey marble need sealer?
This marble is porous: sealer makes it absorb less, though it does not make it waterproof. The water drop test tells you on each slab: drop some water on it and watch whether that spot darkens after a while. If it darkens, the slab wants sealer before use. Day to day, water and neutral soap are enough.
Are these really photos of Jolie Grey slabs?
Yes: the full slab and the close-up come from a real slab of this stone. No slab repeats another slab's pattern, so the piece for your order is chosen from its own photo. Before you buy, we send you photos of the slabs available for your order.
