What Grigio Perla marble looks like
Fine, short white streaks run diagonally over the blue-gray, dense enough to cover nearly the whole surface. Dark gray completes the palette. The contrast between the white and the background is medium: the streaks read clearly. The streaks keep the same density across the whole slab. The photo shows the polished finish.

Questions about Grigio Perla marble
Are Gris Perla and Grigio Perla the same stone?
Yes. They are two forms of the same name for the same stone. Order it as Gris Perla or Grigio Perla: it is a single reference.
How is it different from Palissandro marble?
In their photos, both draw fine, parallel streaks in a diagonal; the difference is in the background. Palissandro flips the pair: a grayish white background with gray streaks. The slab in the Grigio Perla photo sets the white against the blue-gray. Photos of both help you decide: see the Palissandro page.
How does Grigio Perla hold up on a kitchen countertop?
With conditions. The acid in lemon, vinegar or tomato reacts with the calcite and leaves a dull mark on the polish: it is an etch, not a stain. A knife edge, besides, scratches this stone sooner than granite. Over the years the surface takes on a patina; that decision is best made before you order, not after. To help you decide, the Marble or granite? guide compares the two stones on an everyday countertop.
What care does this marble need?
Cleaning needs no special products: water and pH-neutral soap. Lemon, wine or tomato cannot wait: wipe spills dry as soon as they land, because their acid leaves a dull mark on the polish. To tell whether it is time to seal, drop some water on the slab: if the stone darkens quickly, seal it. Sealer reduces how much the stone absorbs; it does not make it waterproof.
