What to ask for when choosing your Blue Pearl slab
Blue Pearl is a trade name: the real tone is not in the name but in the photo of each slab. What does come fixed with the type is the pattern, speckled and regular, the same from one end of the piece to the other. Before you buy, we send you photos of the slabs available for your order. Polished, honed or leathered change the gloss and feel of the same stone.

Blue Pearl Granite Finishes
With the same granite underneath, the gloss and feel change from one finish to the next. The area where each one fits changes with them.
-
Polished
High gloss and a smooth feel: the surface reflects light and pairs well with countertops, tables and cladding.
-
Honed
The gloss fades and the feel turns matte and soft, with no reflections.
-
Flamed
The flame leaves the face rough, so it slips less: the one for terraces and pool copings.
-
Leathered
It leaves a fine relief under the hand and lowers the reflection compared with polished.

Questions About Blue Pearl Granite
Does Blue Pearl granite work for the kitchen countertop?
Yes. The kitchen is easy ground for a granite: a hot pot on top, a dragged knife and a squeeze of lemon do not do to it what they would do to a softer marble. Still, cut on a cutting board: the stone takes the knife, but your knife does not take the stone. To see which other stones stand up to a kitchen, visit natural stone for kitchens.
Does Blue Pearl granite need sealer?
It depends on the slab. The background tone rules: a light granite usually absorbs more than a dark one and asks for sealer, especially on the countertop, where coffee, wine and oil land. When you ask for a quote, ask about the slab you will get and decide with its photo in front of you. For cleaning, water with neutral soap; strong bleach cleaners are out because they dull the sealer.
Which finish does the outdoors call for?
Where people walk barefoot or with wet feet, flamed: it leaves the surface rough, and that is welcome at the edge of a pool. On facades and walls the granite handles the outdoors without trouble: rain does not change its color or wear it down.
How is it different from a quartzite or a marble?
With quartzite it shares strength; the pattern sets them apart, because quartzite is built of veins and granite of an even speckling that repeats. Against marble the conversation is different: marble is softer, scratches sooner and asks for more care with acids. To settle the choice between types, the marble or granite guide gets to the point.
