Alma marble

Marble · Italy

Rounded fossils in olive green and brown dot a greenish cream background: that is Alma marble. A vein-free, low-contrast marble that fits bathrooms and walls where the detail is seen up close.

What Alma marble looks like

The background of the slab is a light greenish beige, and over it rounded fossil inclusions in olive green and light brown are spread. There are no veins: rounded, scattered stains build the pattern. With low contrast, the surface looks even from afar, and up close the fossils stand out. The variation within the slab is moderate: what changes is how the fossils are spread. In the photo the surface looks matte and, since every slab carries its own fossils, it is chosen from photos.

Alma marble finishes

Over this vein-free background, the finish decides the sheen, the feel and how much grip the floor gets.

  • Polished

Mirror sheen: the greenish cream background gains light and reflects what is around it.

  • Honed

Matte and smooth to the touch, with no reflections; indicated for showers and floors that get wet.

  • Brushed

Fine lines you feel as you run your hand over it; a useful texture where there is water.

Questions about Alma marble

How is Alma marble different from Alma Fuoco?

The difference is in how the pattern is spread. In Alma, the olive and brown inclusions stay scattered and soft across the whole slab. The Alma Fuoco photo shows ocher and rust stains with crisp edges, grouped in the upper central area.

How does Alma marble hold up in a kitchen?

It works if you accept the patina: over the years, kitchen work leaves marks on marble. Lemon, vinegar or wine dull the polish where they land, and that dull area does not come out with cleaning. Granite withstands everyday acids much better.

What care does Alma marble need?

For everyday washing, water and neutral soap. When lemon, wine or tomato lands, dry the liquid fast: what it leaves is not a stain, it is an area where the polish dulled. With use, the sealer wears out: renew it when a drop of water darkens the stone again.

Which slab do I see in the photos?

The photos show the whole slab and its close-up detail. Every slab of this marble carries its own fossils. Before you buy, we send photos of the slabs available for your order.
