Tala Grey marble
Marble · Italy
A light beige-gray background with diffuse clouds and gray strokes that go nowhere: that is how the slab in the Tala Grey marble photo looks, with soft veining and low contrast. In bathrooms and walls it gives its best; interior floors and tables run one step behind.

The cloudy gray of Tala Grey marble
Clouds of medium gray and grayish white spread over a light beige-gray background, none of them setting a direction: the pattern does not run, it dissolves. Loose, irregular gray patches and strokes make the whole read soft and muted, with low contrast. In the photo the surface comes in matte, with no reflections, a look that suits such a diffuse pattern. The pattern of this slab varies moderately.

If the slab is going in a shower or on a bathroom floor, ask for a honed finish: wet polish is slippery.
Tala Grey marble finishes
The photo shows a matte finish. From there, each finish changes the sheen, the reflection and the touch.
-
Polished
The shiniest: the beige gray gains reflection and presence. Wet, it is slippery, so it is not the finish for a shower.
-
Honed
Matte and soft to the touch, with no reflection: the right choice in wet areas, where a polished surface is slippery.
-
Brushed
A fine brushing runs across the surface and gives it texture; the sheen sits halfway, short of a mirror.
-
Antiqued
A muted shine and a soft relief, with the air of stone that has been in place for years.

Questions about Tala Grey marble
How do I tell Tala Grey apart from Tundra marble?
In its photo, Tundra marble leans gray: a medium gray background and, among darker clouds, a fine speckle of light dots. In the Tala Grey slab photo, the background leans beige and the patches blend into it, with no speckle. That background tone is the difference you see first.
Does Tala Grey marble work in the kitchen?
It works, with one condition: accepting the patina, the marks that years of cooking leave behind. A spill of lemon, wine or tomato dulls the polish right where it lands; that dulling is not a stain: it comes back when the piece is polished again. A knife cutting straight on the stone marks it sooner than on granite: the cutting board is still necessary. With the sealer up to date, the countertop works; compare options in natural stone for kitchens.
What care does it need?
Clean it with warm water and a neutral soap. If something acidic spills, like lemon or vinegar, dry it right away. To know whether it is time for sealer, place a drop of water on the stone: if the stone under the drop darkens, the slab is asking for sealer.
Is the photo of a real Tala Grey slab?
Yes: both images come from a single real Tala Grey slab, one full view and a close-up of the matte surface. The layout of the clouds changes from slab to slab: the piece in your order is chosen from its own photos. Before you buy, we send you photos of the slabs available for your order.
