What Silver travertine looks like
Wide, parallel horizontal stripes build the pattern of this slab, in gray and light beige over a grayish beige background. Contrast between bands is medium: each stripe stands out, but the whole keeps an even tone. Within the slab the banding runs uniform, with stripes that stay wide, horizontal and parallel.

Silver travertine finishes
When you order you choose two things: the finish, and whether the pores come filled or open.
-
Polished
The highest shine: with the pores filled, the surface comes out smooth.
-
Honed
No shine; on floors and in wet areas it is less slippery than polished.
-
Brushed
Low shine and open pores: together with antiqued, it is the finish that works outdoors.
-
Antiqued
Rustic texture and open pores: on facades and pool coping the stone stays cool in the sun.

Questions about Silver travertine
Why does Silver travertine have pores?
It is the mark of its formation: the limestone was born in hot springs, and the gas stayed trapped in bubbles that are now its pores. When you order the stone you choose between two surfaces: smooth with filled pores, or rustic with open pores.
How is it different from Ocean Silver travertine?
Stripe width: in this slab's photo the bands are wide, orderly and parallel; Ocean Silver travertine shows fine beige and gray stripes with some pores in its photo. It is the difference between a pattern of bands and one of fine striping.
Does Silver travertine work for a kitchen countertop?
Only if you accept marks: lemon, vinegar and wine leave their trace on the surface, the same as on marble. Filled pores and sealer help with daily use. If you want a countertop that stands up better to acids, natural stone for kitchens has stones made for that job.
What care does Silver travertine need?
Clean it with neutral soap and water. Sealing is a good idea, especially with open pores. In showers and on vanity tops, check from time to time that the filled pores stay closed.
How does Silver travertine reach my country?
