What Pietra Serena Marble looks like
There is no vein at all in the slab in the photo: the medium gray stays even and smooth, with faint tonal clouds in light gray as its only movement. The contrast is so low that the surface reads almost as one continuous color, with the tone spread uniformly. The texture is matte and light does not pass through it. No two pieces of this stone are ever the same: you choose by looking at photos.

Pietra Serena Marble finishes
In a stone with such an even color, the finish shows in the sheen and the feel more than in the pattern.
-
Polished
It brings out the sheen and reflection the photo does not have.
-
Honed
Matte and smooth to the touch, with no reflections: the option where there is water, such as showers and bathroom floors.
-
Brushed
A fine, even brushing you notice under your hand, adding grip in walkways.
-
Antiqued
A slightly rough feel and the low sheen of an aged stone: the strongest matte of the four.

Questions about Pietra Serena Marble
How is Pietra Serena marble different from Fior di Bosco marble?
Both are grays with a quiet pattern. The difference is in the hue and the veining: in its photo, Fior di Bosco marble leans toward a muted greenish gray and carries fine, almost invisible veins; the Pietra Serena slab in the photo stays a plain medium gray with no veins at all.
How does Pietra Serena marble hold up in the kitchen?
With caveats: it handles everyday heat, but lemon, vinegar or tomato leave a dull mark on the polish. A sealer helps it absorb less, though it does not make it waterproof. If you want fewer marks on a countertop, granite is the better choice, because it resists acids better; if you accept a patina over the years, Pietra Serena holds its own.
Which finish suits a floor or a shower?
Honed or brushed on the shower floor and anywhere that gets wet: where there is water, polish slips underfoot. In hallways the sheen wears with the years; if that worries you, remember that marble can be repolished and restored.
Is the slab photo real?
