lapis lazuli
Semi-precious stone · Afghanistan
Angular pieces of intense ultramarine, with white flecks and gold dots, joined by hand with resin on a base. Lapis lazuli shines where it is seen up close: accent walls, headboards and indoor pieces.
It is also known as Lapis Blue.

What lapis lazuli looks like
Ultramarine fills the slab in the photo piece by piece: angular fragments with white flecks, white veins and gold dots. The whole reads as a mosaic assembled by hand, with high contrast between the blue and the light flecks. The pattern changes little within the slab: blue rules the whole surface, with the gloss of the polish.

Where to use a lapis lazuli slab?
- WallsAccent walls and headboards: a piece to look at up close
- TablesIndoor tables, with trivets at hand
- BathroomsVanities and bathroom walls; not the shower, where water hits directly
- KitchenNot the countertop: resin cannot take stove heat
- Interior floorsNot on floors: foot traffic scratches the resin
- OutdoorsNot outdoors either: strong sun wears down the resin
- ScratchesMedium
- StainsMedium
- HeatLow
Each semi-precious slab is smaller than a marble slab: a large wall is covered by joining several, so it is best to see them together in photos.
The lapis lazuli polish
The ultramarine pieces in the photo are polished. An opaque lapis lazuli like this one does not take backlighting.

Polished
High gloss over the whole mosaic: the polish reflects the light of the room.

Questions about lapis lazuli
Is a lapis lazuli slab a single stone?
No. The panel joins pieces of natural lapis lazuli with resin on a base. The stone is natural; the assembly is handwork that comes out different on every slab. Before you buy, we send photos of the slabs available for your order.
Can you put a light behind the panel?
Not on this slab: lapis lazuli is opaque and looks the same with a light source behind it. Amethyst and quartz do change, because they let light through. Here the high contrast of the mosaic and the polish do the visual work.
Does lapis lazuli work for a kitchen countertop?
The work surface is not its place: the resin in the joints does not handle stove heat well, and daily use would mark the panel. Where it does work is on a bar front or a wall away from the flame. For the work zone, the kitchen page brings together stones that stand up to daily use.
How do you clean a lapis lazuli slab?
Daily care is a soft cloth and water. Solvents and abrasive cleaners, never. Under hot cups and pots on the table, always use trivets: direct heat is the first thing resin suffers.
How does a lapis lazuli slab reach my country?
We ship to any country, with the stone's documents of origin and its CE certification. On the shipping page we explain how it reaches each region.
