Etna marble

Marble · Italy

Diagonal bands of cream, greenish gray, ochre and rust red run across a light cream background: this is how Etna marble looks in the slab in the photo. It is a slab of strong color: it works in bathrooms and on walls, where the bands read whole.

What Etna Marble Looks Like

Four colors share this slab: cream, greenish gray, ochre yellow and rust red. The pattern is made of wide bands that cross the light cream background diagonally, with fine dark cracks. The contrast between bands is high, and the variation within the slab is strong. The finish in the photo is bright polish, and the bands return the light.

If your project joins several cuts, choose each piece from its photo: the bands vary quite a bit within a single slab.

Etna Marble Finishes

In a slab with four such different colors, the finish decides how much the surface shines and how it feels under the hand.

  • Polished

A smooth, highly reflective surface: the finish shown in the photo.

  • Honed

A matte, soft surface: where the shower or the floor gets water, it is the finish the stone calls for.

  • Antiqued

A muted shine and slight texture under the hand, for rooms with an antique feel.

Questions About Etna Marble

How does Etna marble differ from Striato Elegante marble?

The bands make the difference: in the photo, Etna crosses a cream background with wide diagonal bands of greenish gray, ochre and rust red, while Striato Elegante is a taupe beige with parallel horizontal lines that recall wood. You can compare the two patterns on the Striato Elegante marble page.

Does Etna marble work for a kitchen countertop?

Yes, with one condition: the surface gains patina and over the years shows the marks of daily use. Lemon or vinegar dulls the polished shine where it lands: it is a chemical reaction, not a stain from dirt. With sealer and liquids dried right away, the countertop works. If you would rather compare harder stones, see natural stone for kitchens.

What care does Etna marble need?

The light cream background shows any liquid left behind: clean it with water and neutral soap. Do not leave wine, lemon or vinegar sitting: dry them as soon as they spill. Sealer is decided slab by slab: do the water drop test, and apply it before using the surface for the first time if the marble darkens after a while.

Are the photos of this stone real?

Yes: both shots show the same Etna slab, the full slab and a close-up of the bands. Because the pattern varies a lot within the slab, the piece you receive may place the bands differently. Before you buy, we send photos of the slabs available for your order.

How does Etna marble reach my country?

We ship to any country, with the stone's documents of origin and its CE certification. On the shipping page we explain how it reaches each region.
