Santafiora Havana sandstone

Sandstone · Italy

The Santafiora Havana sandstone photo shows a calm golden cream, with soft, diffuse pale and golden clouds and the smooth grain of sandstone. This is an outdoor stone: facades, walls and floors that live in the open air.

What Santafiora Havana Sandstone Looks Like

Pale and golden clouds fade across a cream with beige and ivory undertones: this slab has no defined vein, and its entire pattern is cloudy. The clouds contrast little with the cream background, so the whole surface reads calm. The texture is matte and softly sandy, as the close-up shows. Within the slab, the clouding changes in a moderate way.

Finishes of Santafiora Havana Sandstone

There is no mirror polish for this stone. Sandstone is matte by nature: each finish plays out in texture and color.

  • Honed

The smoothest of the four: the grain levels out under the hand and leaves a soft touch.

  • Brushed

Brushes that soften the face and leave a regular texture on the matte surface.

  • Sandblasted

Sandblasting that opens the grain and leaves the matte rougher.

  • Bush-hammered

Bush-hammering that leaves the most marked texture of the four, with relief you can feel with a finger.

Questions About Santafiora Havana Sandstone

Does Santafiora Havana sandstone work for facades?

Yes: the facade is one of its best uses. Facades, walls and outdoor floors are sandstone's ground. Its natural surface is matte and a little rough, so an outdoor floor does not get slippery.

Does it work on the kitchen countertop?

No: on a countertop, grease finds porous stone and soaks in. Sandstone asks for surfaces where grease and unsealed wine never land, and a kitchen lives surrounded by both. If you want stone for everyday cooking, the kitchen page shows more forgiving options.

What care does Santafiora Havana sandstone need?

The first care indoors is sealer: a porous stone lets water and grease in. Outdoors, water and a soft brush are enough; a high-pressure washer is ruled out. To check the sealer, drop a little water on the stone: if it darkens underneath, it is time to seal again.

How do I tell it apart from Santafiora Venata?

You recognize the Venata at once: in its photo it carries soft diagonal waves, like sand dunes. In the Havana's photo there are no waves: diffuse golden clouds over a warm cream, with no defined veins. Seen together, one waves and the other stays cloudy.

Is the photo a real slab?

Real: the camera captured an authentic Santafiora Havana slab. The close-up of the sand grain shows that same surface. As with any stone, each slab brings its own clouding. Before you buy we send photos of the slabs available for your order.
