classic travertine

Travertine · Italy and Turkey

No veins: the beige speckling of Classic travertine lines up dark holes vertically, and in the photo it looks symmetrical, as in a mirror. The pattern varies moderately within the slab. A porous limestone, it works on floors, facades and walls.

Also known as Travertino Classico.

What Classic Travertine looks like

Specks and patches of light beige and dark brown spread over the beige background in a textured mottling that never forms veins. In the photo, the dark holes form vertical columns with a distribution so even that the pattern looks symmetrical, like a reflection in a mirror. The contrast is medium: the holes show without covering the beige. Within the slab, the speckling varies moderately from one end to the other. Before you buy, we send photos of the slabs available for your order.

Classic Travertine finishes

The pore filling sets the base: filled, the surface is smooth; open, the look is rustic. The finish adds the sheen on top.

  • Polished

The brightest sheen on Classic travertine: it sits over filled pores, and acid marks show more on it.

  • Honed

The matte finish with a natural look: in wet areas, honed Classic travertine is less slippery than polished.

  • Brushed

A soft matte texture; with the pores unfilled, brushed Classic travertine works outdoors and on pool copings.

  • Antiqued

Rustic and open-pored: the surface stays cool in the sun, made for facades and pools.

Questions about Classic Travertine

Are Classic Travertine and Travertino Classico the same stone?

Yes. Classico and Clásico name the same travertine; only the spelling of the name changes. Order it under the name you saw it under; the stone does not change.

How do I tell Classic Travertine from Roman Travertine?

The pore pattern sets them apart. In the Roman travertine photo, the open holes, many and of different sizes, sit scattered over a grayish beige; in the Classic photo they form even columns over the beige. Side by side, the two are easy to tell apart.

Filled or open pores: how do you order Classic Travertine?

It is a choice you make when you order: filled pores build a smooth base, and open pores leave the holes in view, with a rustic feel. In wet areas, order filled pores and check them now and then. A sealer and cleaning with neutral soap complete the care.

Are the Classic Travertine photos of real slabs?

Real: the slab in the photo is Classic travertine, not a recreation. Every slab is different, so your order is confirmed with photos of the exact slabs.

How does Classic Travertine reach my country?

The stone ships on request, straight from the producer. We ship to any country, with the stone's origin documents and CE certification. The shipping page explains how it reaches each region.
